The Calling

Guided by instinct, bound by love
on the rocks of your shore I wait
and when the lights go down
that’s where I’ll be found
answering the call of Fate

No footprints made, but still you came
my mind’s eye drew your smile
your presence felt in many ways
my mind painted your desire

Hide and seek, imagination dances
will of the heart? Contentment advances

Shadows sigh as dusk unfolds
your whispers travel on a breeze
in the darkness, I feel them pass by
your whispers never meant for me

Silence flies, no backward glances
Light of truth? Preconceived romances

No promises made, but questions linger
I’ll always be in the dark
time changes all, yet nothing changes
I’ll always be tied to you

  2. Best part for me, amidst several solid passages was where not noted that time changes everything but really it doesn't... That took courage and insight to say, and you placed it in perfect context.

    Stellar poem, Dahlia...

    1. Yeah, time can be a bitch. It can change so much without touching the core.

I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. Love you madly <3

    1. I've loved this song since I first heard it years ago on So You Think You Can Dance. It's one I come back to periodically. It's so haunting, which is probably why I love it - lol!

  7. I was afraid to read this because you always reach to the core of me with your writing. I think this is my favorite (I say that to you a lot) but it is magnificent. I truly want to go curl up in a ball on my floor and cry for a day. I won't,but that's how much I feel and understand your heart in this write. Love you, your heart and your writing far more than any words I posses today. Beautiful.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Jay. And yeah, it would be nice to have questions answered, but in some cases, would make no difference to the outcome.
